There are three major reasons for this change. First of all, it will help to use funds more efficiently and to consolidate more than 14 brands into one recognisable brand in Lithuania and abroad. The second reason is customer convenience. We will provide all key energy services straight from one point – Ignitis, not from several different companies as it was before.
And finally, we want to distance ourselves from the monopoly image and successfully compete in the market.
“Liberation from monopolies, by giving consumers more power and choice, is one of the historic changes in energy market. Lietuvos Energija monopoly does not have the future just as the monopolies of Lietuvos kuras or Lietuvos Telekomas which once disappeared. We have already become virtually unrecognizable, we compete in the international markets, are ready to seriously compete in Lithuania. For this reason, we have to free ourselves from the post-soviet state monopoly image,” says Darius Maikštėnas, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Ignitis Group.
On September 6 Lietuvos Energija became Ignitis Group, Lietuvos Energijos Tiekimas changed its name to Ignitis, Lietuvos Energijos Gamyba became Ignitis Gamyba and Lietuvos Energija Renewables – Ignitis Renewables. In the international markets our group also will operate under Ignitis brand. Name of Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius remains the same.
