"We have submitted such a request to the European Commission and probably it's time to start talking about it in public. In our opinion, the situation is difficult. We've been to Šalčininkai (close to the border), and the situation is that Belarusians are killing pigs 200 meters away from there, while we are doing nothing," Jonas Milius told BNS.
It is estimated that if the Commission grants the request, around 10,000 pigs will have to be slaughtered.
Milius on Thursday is leaving for Belarus to meet with heads of the Belarusian and Russian veterinary authorities. Among other issues, they will discuss the fight against African swine fever.
