“The deed on the transfer of shares, signed by the economy minister, has been taken to the Finance Ministry today. I do not know whether the finance minister has already signed it but the economy minister has signed the documents,” Jūratė Antanaitytė-Voldemarienė, a PR adviser to the economy minister, told BNS on Monday.

The Cabinet decided to transfer the shares to the Finance Ministry on February 13.

The Economy Ministry in took over 100 percent of shares in VAE from the Energy Ministry in late September 2012, but the ownership of shares in the electricity transmission grid operator Litgrid was transferred to EPSO-G, a new company founded by the Energy Ministry. The government thus separated the transmission system operator from VAE in line with the EU's third energy package.

VAE was established the carry out Lithuania's planned new nuclear power plant project. However, the project has been hanging in the balance since last October's referendum.
