Lithuania's youth unemployment in the upper end of EU range

Youth unemployment level recorded in Lithuania in 2012 fell in the upper end of the European Union’s (EU) range, data from Eurostat shows.

Youth unemployment rate in the country, i.e. the number of unemployed persons aged 15-24 as a share of the labor force of the same age, reached 26.4 percent last year.

In Latvia, youth unemployment rate last year reached 28.4 percent, and in Estonia, 20.9 percent. Across the EU, youth unemployment rate made up 23 percent in 2012.

Youth unemployment rate in the Community ranged from 8.1 percent in Germany to 55.3 percent in Greece.
