The majority of the vacancies are available in the military units deployed in Jonava, Kaunas, Tauragė, Alytus, Panevėžys and Klaipėda, about 30 percent of the vacancies are for soldiers.

Positions are offered to drivers, communications and information technology specialists, intelligence specialists, riflemen, assistant grenade launchers and others.

Laimonas Brazaitis, senior specialist at the Defense Ministry Public Relations Division, says the need and potential to hire more soldiers of the professional military service has come about due to restructuring of the Armed Forces and efforts to restore balance between collective and territorial defense tasks. A part of the vacancies are available due to the continuous rotation in Lithuanian military units, as well as retirement or end of contracts.
