Lithuanian e-book search idea catches interest of Amazon and Apple

Lithuanian company Prodigita, which has created ebooksbylanguage.com, a website offering 30,000 e-books in multiple languages, plans to increase the number of publications to 2 millions, in particular as the number of visitors to its website is growing tenfold each quarter and it has managed to catch interest of industry giants like Amazon, Kobobooks, Prestigio, Samsung, and Apple, the Verslo Žinios business daily reports.

The Belarusians had asked the company to add books in the Belarusian language to ebooksbylanguage.com, Prodigita CEO Darius Vosylius told the daily.

As estimated, around 700 e-books in the Lithuanian language could be found in Lithuania’s e-publishing segment. However, the number should be around 3,000-4,000 in order to have a real e-book market.
