"I have met with my Latvian and Estonian counterparts in the past few weeks and I can say very clearly that interest in carrying out a joint nuclear power plant project, provided it is going to be economically attractive, remains in place," he said during an economic conference in Vilnius.
The Baltic countries would thus form "a geo-economic and geopolitical bloc," Neverovič said.
"We share the understanding that for all three Baltic countries, it is important to have a secure supply of energy resources and generate part of it in their own countries. With the realization of a joint project, a Baltic geo-economic and geopolitical bloc would be formed. We must give very serious thought to energy development models," he said.
However, the minister said that in energy discussions in Lithuania, the choice is between either nuclear energy or renewable resources, with energy mix possibilities being left out.
