Expansion and new opportunities

“Kauno Baldai is entering a new stage of driven expansion. The main challenge and necessity to maintain competitiveness in international markets is increasing manufacturing capacities and efficiency rapidly. One of the core tasks is to concentrate on the ongoing company conversion project. It also requires continuous exploration for further opportunities – from greenfield investment in modern manufacturing complexes to potential factory purchases. Which will all help us create high added-value products and conquer new export markets,” states the new Kauno Baldai board chairman.

The ongoing conversion project and the construction of a new factory will draw around 20 million euros in investment. It is expected for manufacturing capacities to increase once the project is completed next year, thanks to leveraging the most up-to-date robotisation and automation technologies. The new factory will emerge on the company’s territory in Žemieji Šančiai. Construction work is ongoing with the factory due to begin operating at full capacity in 2023.

Ambitious goals

It has been calculated that the new factory will allow increasing production by more than twofold over the coming five years. Alongside the growing manufacturing volumes, there will be growth in job positions, rising from 400 to 500 by 2025.

Kauno Baldai exports100 per cent of its production in foreign markets, predominantly the Scandinavian, Benelux and other Western European countries.

Besides Kauno Baldai, the SBA furniture manufacturing sector includes SBA Home, which manages the furniture manufacturers Klaipėdos Baldai, Šilutės Baldai, Germanika, Visagino Linija, Mebelain and Laminn. The SBA Group also operates in the real estate and textile sectors, employing around 5,000 employees.
