EU ministers meeting in Vilnius to discuss EP elections

European affairs ministers are meeting in Vilnius on Thursday and Friday to discuss the preparation for the upcoming elections to the European Parliament (EP).

Chaired by Lithuania's Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius, the meeting will also address the inter-institutional relations between the Council and the European Parliament.

The General Affairs Council is responsible for handling issues with an impact on multiple policies of the European Union, such as enlargement of the EU, the Multiannual Financial Framework, institutional and administrative issues.

Lithuania is holding EU Council presidency in the second half of this year.
