"To get the pricing right in the emissions trading schemes – that will be a big topic for the early fall. So I think for the Lithuanian Environment Ministry that will be one of the big issues in the Council in September-October," the commissioner told journalists after meeting with Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius in Vilnius on Wednesday.
In her words, an agreement among EU countries on emission permits must be reached before the conference of the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change that will take place in Warsaw in November where Lithuania, as the Council presidency, will have to present the EU Council position.
"We just discussed that one of the big challenges for Warsaw will be for Europe to define its position on financing because it is one of the key aims for Warsaw," she said.
