Food inspectors step up checks on cafés in countdown to Lithuanian EU Council Presidency

Food inspectors have checked all hotels that will accommodate guests during Lithuania’s EU Council Presidency events as well as all restaurants and cafés that will provide catering services, the Lietuvos Rytas daily reports.

The inspectors have checked around 240 catering companies, mostly in Vilnius, Kaunas, Druskininkai, Klaipėda, and Trakai, so far this year.

They slapped fines on approximately one-fifth of catering establishments and suspended the activities of three catering companies.
