On Tuesday, the palace was inspected by members of the parliamentary group for Historic Memory and Justice. Dolinskas has assured them that all work is proceeding as planned, adding that all preparations will be in time for the opening in early July.

"We take state projects very seriously and understand what it means for Lithuania to preside over the EU Council. We will definitely make it in time with the exhibitions as a certain background for the events," Dolinskas told journalists.

In his words, construction workers are to leave the part of the palace at issue on May 15-16.

European events scheduled in Lithuania for guests attending meetings will include Royal Palace tours with music, followed by dinners.

On the orders of the administration of the Russian Empire, the castle of the Royal Palace of grand dukes of Lithuania was torn down in 1799-1801. Reconstruction was started in 2002.
