"Healthcare systems are increasingly facing financial, economic and demographic challenges, fail to deal with them and are, therefore, looking for ways to respond to wishes and needs of citizens," Julius Naščenkovas, spokesman for the Lithuanian health minister, told BNS.

In his words, discussions on a sustainable healthcare system, changes to the Tobacco Products Directive and wellbeing of elder people will be held during the meeting. Politicians will also discuss ways to fight youth smoking and regulate the tobacco market.

The meeting will take place under the Lithuanian EU presidency, launched on July 1.
