Some 184 strikes took place in February, in addition to three in May, all held by state-run education institutions of 37 municipalities that are part of nine counties. The warning strikes were held after a four-year break.
The total idle time caused by the warning strikes is over 1,800 office days.
The main causes behind the strikes declared by the educational institutions included disagreements on school financing schemes (student baskets), planned certification of teachers and the wages system, etc.

2012 marks highest number of warning strikes in Lithuania in over decade
Some 187 warning strikes were held in Lithuania in February and May, which marks the highest number of strikes in the past 12 years, Statistics Lithuania said on Monday.
