According to the statement, 18,778 more applicants were invited to study on their own means, including 1,163 who have a right to apply for grants.

Most of the state-funded places are at Vilnius University (2,829), followed by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (1,429), and Kaunas University of Technology (1,316).

As compared with 2011, the popularity of social sciences in universities and colleges decreased among applicants, but these remain far more popular than other fields of study. A rise has been reported in the number of young people applying for biomedicine and technological sciences.
