"The results of all tests have not been received yet but this line of inquiry is very realistic. Of course, we might also be wrong, but perhaps traces of some poison will be found," Kęstutis Lančinskas, chief of Vilnius County Police Headquarters, told the Lietuvos Rytas daily on Thursday.
The exact cause of death will be announced after histological tests.
Voinicki's body was found by his wife in the basement of his block of flats at around 9:30 AM on March 6. His hands and legs were tied, and his mouth was taped, therefore, initially he was thought to have been tortured and brutally murdered.
But after inquiries into his life started, it emerged from what he did lately that he as if already knew that he was going to die soon and took care of his family. He paid utility bills for a year ahead and left everything to his son in his will.
Investigators also found the shop where he bought tape which was later found on his mouth. Voinicki was recorded on CCTT.
