Lithuanian customs officers find 24 kg of amphetamine aboard Sweden-bound truck

About 24 kg of a substance, which is believed to be amphetamine, was discovered aboard a truck headed from Lithuania to Sweden on a ferry, the Customs Department said.

In the framework of stepped up examination of vehicles exiting Lithuania on Wednesday, a custom dog tracked suspicious substances in a bag hidden in a truck with a Lithuanian driver. The truck was carrying house frames.

Initial testing identified the substance as amphetamine, which is estimated at more than 430,000 litas (EUR 125,000) on the black market.

The truck driver was detained.
