The other three men died in Sweden.

The police in Telšiai, a town in northwestern Lithuania and where the deceased man was from, launched a pre-trial investigation into the cause of death. Vitalija Kazlauskienė of Telšiai police told BNS no investigation into the car accident in Sweden would be carried out, and only an investigation into the cause of death of the Telšiai resident would be conducted.

Three Lithuanian men died in a car accident in northern Sweden on 19 July after a Russian-registered truck slowed down to avoid collision with an animal and the Irish-registered van the Lithuanians were traveling in crashed into the back of the truck. The fourth Lithuanian was initially treated in hospital in Sweden but was last week brought back to Lithuania and treated in Klaipėda.
