The three men, aged 27-28, were arrested last Thursday in Šiauliai, northern Lithuania, carrying 3 kilos of drgus in a rented VW Golf. Officers found around 3 kilos inside one of the vehicle's tires. The tire was taken off one of used cars imported from Spain, the police said.

On 26 March, French police officers also found drugs hidden in a similar way in the very same car.

Kaunas prosecutors have opened a pre-trial investigation. The trio are charged with possession of a large quantity of drugs and drug smuggling. A Kaunas court sanctioned the arrest of two men for three months, and the third will spend 15 days in custody. They all face up to 15 years in prison.
