Officers from the Organized Crime Unit of the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau, in cooperation with the local police, detained two Klaipėda residents last Monday, 38 and 27, in Vaištarai village. Around 3 kilos of methamphetamine were later found in a SSangyong, driven by one of the detainees.

A search was later carried out in a remote uninhabitable house the men had visited before their arrest. Chemical substances and equipment necessary for the production of psychotropic substances were found there. Police officers estimate that up to 15 kilos of drugs could have been produced in the lab.

The Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau launched a pre-trial investigation. According to the Police Department, the two men are linked with criminal groups and have previous convictions for car thefts.
