"We have established her whereabouts and turned to relevant institutions, asking to verify the available information and take measures," Roginskis said at a news conference at the Police Department on Thursday.
He has assured that the police have known Venckienė's place of residence and the route she took to get there from the day the search was announced.
"I do not want to elaborate on where she is and the city she's in, we know her whereabouts and the country she lives in," the officer added.
Asked to specify why the wanted MP had not yet been detained and brought back to Lithuania, Roginskis replied: "We live in a country that follows the law, so the process should also be in line with the law, and the procedures are strict."
Earlier on Thursday, Lithuanian media reported that the fugitive MP is hiding in Chicago. A reader of lrytas.lt and delfi.lt took a picture of Venckienė and her son in central Chicago.
Šiauliai prosecutors want to interview Venckienė, who is suspected of non-compliance with a court ruling ordering her hand over her niece to the girl's mother.
In the end of April, parliament stripped PM Venckienė of her legal immunity. The MP has not been seen in the Seimas since and is believed to have fled abroad.
