According to the general census, on March 1, 2011, the average age in the Lithuanian population was 41, up from 37 ten years ago.
During the census, children under the age of 15 made 16.1 percent of the population, working-age population accounted for 62.5 percent and pensioners for 21.4 percent.
The largest relative share of young people live in Telšiai county, while the largest portion of working-age people are reported in Vilnius county.
