"In response to the fact, the State Security Department is currently collecting intelligence information to reveal potential violations," the department said in a press release.

Earlier on Thursday, Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius dismissed as an information provocation the leaked audio records of telephone conversations among Lithuanian diplomats informally discussing the prime minister's trip to Russia, sharing remarks about the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the situation in Turkmenistan.

In a press release published on its website, the State Security Department emphasized that "information operations are integral part of foreign policies of foreign countries."

"Intelligence services of various countries have the technological means for unsanctioned collection of information via telecommunication networks including electronic communication," the department said.
