"Our main problem is that we do not have a unified system to prevent and control cyber attacks. There are at least six separate institutions in charge of cyber security within their field of competences, however, there is no system to bind them all, therefore, responses to many cyber attacks come too late after damage has already been caused. The best example is the latest SMS attack, which was responded to a few days after the attack," Paulauskas said in a press release.
In early April, some mobile telephone users received text messages containing a virus. Clicking on the link in the message would instal malware, which would scan the subscriber's contacts and send them the same virus-containing text.
In Paulauskas' words, mechanisms are being developed to manage the cyber attacks, however, the schemes do not always correspond to the realities.
