During a visit at the Lithuanian War Academy on the occasion of the 9-year anniversary of NATO membership, Grybauskaite told journalists that the strategic documents adopted by the Alliance over past years ensure that all members will be defended equally, and „Article 5 will be applied to all member-states, including the Baltic states.“
„This, of course, puts us under the obligation of meeting our commitments, i.e., not only raise the defense spending but also ensure our contingency and our equal and high-quality participation in international missions. Lithuania has been indeed very successful at this, we are highly valued not only in Afghanistan but also in other hot spots. Therefore, we are fulfilling our duties,“ said the president.
