"Streams in northern and eastern regions are swelling and should continue doing so. Swelling depends on weather conditions. If days are warm, sudden melting of snow is possible, and then the water level will rise further. There are flooded areas but there's no emergency situation as yet," Vladas Rakštelis, a spokesman for the department, told BNS on Thursday.
Firefighters in the northeastern city of Utena had to build a sandbag embankment as a swelling river was threatening nearby homes.
In a separate incident, some 50 gardening plots were flooded in Kaunas District, central Lithuania, and emergency services had to evacuate several people.
