Siaurusevicius re-elected to head Lithuania's natl broadcaster

Audrius Siaurusevicius was on Tuesday re-elected for the second five-year tenure as the director general of the Lithuanian national radio and television (LRT).

„We're on the right path, we just need to proceed and step up our work. The national broadcaster should remain an alternative to preferences of the masses, we should offer production with an enduring value and, at the same time, compete on the market,“ Siaurusevicius told journalists after the vote.

„The main thing is that the direction that was in place five years ago, i.e., prioritizing culture, will remain unchanged,“ said the newly-elected LRT chief.

Siaurusevicius said he thought the most difficult times of the national broadcaster were „already behind.“

A total of seven candidates ran for the post of LRT director general on Tuesday.
