Edvardas Trusevičius, member of the Vilnius council and head of the municipal Youth Affairs Council, says that an application was being prepared.
"This involves good aspects – acceleration of youth activities and focusing ideas in clear direction, as we have a number of activities but need to present Vilnius as a city open for youth in an innovative manner," Trusevičius told journalists on Wednesday.
In his words, the city administration also plans to start working with young people on streets and set up an open youth center intended to increase youth employment.
Unemployment levels among young people in Lithuania, Spain, Greece, Slovakia, Italy, Portugal, Latvia and Ireland are higher than the European Union's (EU) average. In Lithuania, 31.1 percent of people between 16 and 24 years of age are unemployed and do not go to school.
