Vilnius to host welcoming event for Olympic swimming champion Rūta Meilutytė

A ceremony to welcome Lithuania's Olympic swimming champion Rūta Meilutytė will be held in Vilnius Town Hall Square on Wednesday evening.

Meilutytė will be greeted by President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Olympic breaststroke 200 m champion Lina Kačiušytė, president of the Lithuanian Olympic Association, the Vilnius municipality informs.

A concert will be held in Meilutytė's honour, featuring singers Marijonas Mikutavičius, Rūta Ščiogolevaitė, Erica Jennings, Jurgis Didžiulis, Neda Malūnavičiūte, and others.

Meilutytė, 15-year-old European 100m breaststroke record holder, won Lithuania's first post-independence Olympic medal in swimming events.

The event is organized by Lithuania's National Olympic Committee.
