Asked to specify a presidential candidate they would support in election if it were held next Sunday, 39.2 percent said they would vote for Grybauskaitė, delfi.lt news portal reports.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, the leader of the ruling Social Democratic Party, was the second runner-up with 16.7 percent of the vote, Conservative MP Irena Degutienė was supported by 5.9 percent and economist Gitanas Nausėda by 3.4 percent.

Public opinion and market research company Spinter Tyrimai (Spinter Surveys) interviewed 1,006 Lithuanian residents between ages of 18 and 75 on June 17-25.

The nearest presidential election is scheduled for next May. Grybauskaitė has pledged to give her decision on running for the second tenure next year.
