Zigmantas Balčytis, a member of the European Parliament, believes that Lithuania “may expect” to get more than 400 million euros for the INPP decommissioning until 2020, which was the last proposal submitted by the European Commission (EC).
“Thus far, everything has been taking place ‘under the carpet’ in EU institutions, therefore we still do not have any precise details as to how much money will be offered to Lithuania. It should be revealed next week when the European Council will try to reach an agreement. If it fails, which may also happen, the issue of the EU financial framework will be moved to our term of EU presidency in the second half of this year. It would not be good since it would put our fixed presidency agenda into disorder,” Gediminas Kirkilas, chairman of parliamentary European Affairs Committee, told the daily.
