Social Democrat Faustas Latenas and Edvard Trusevic of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania have been appointed vice-ministers of culture.
A third vice-minister will be nominated by the Labor Party, with a candidate still to be determined, the Labor Party's Minister of Culture Šarūnas Birutis told BNS on Friday.
Latėnas will leave his current position of Lithuanian culture attaché in Russia to assume the office. Meanwhile Truševič is currently a member of Vilnius City Council and secretary of the EAPL.
Lithuania's new Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius has appointed his fellow Social Democrat diplomat Neris Germanas as his vice-minister, diplomats told BNS on Friday.
Germanas, 66, was a member of the Seimas in 1992-1996 representing the then Lithuanian Democratic Labor Party. He later served as an adviser to late President Algirdas Brazauskas, the country's ambassador to Finland, and the Council of Europe. Germanas has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recent years.
Meanwhile Lithuania's new Minister of National Defense Social Democrat Juozas Olekas says his fellow party member Antanas Valys will be appointed one of his vice-ministers.
"Valys will be one of the vice-ministers," Olekas told BNS on Friday.
Valys had previously been on Olekas' team when the latter was minister of national defense. He served as vice-minister in 2006-2008.
Valys has so far been executive secretary of the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania.
