Presenting the program of 16th government at parliament on Tuesday, Butkevičius listed euro zone accession as one of the government's key priorities. The PM-designate said 2015 was a feasible date.
"But things can turn out that we may try to adopt the euro together with Latvia. Let the first quarter (of 2013) pass, and we'll give it a thought," he later told journalists.
Latvia seeks to join the euro zone in 2014.
Countries are allowed to adopt the euro after they meet Maastricht criteria.
