In a non-binding referendum last year, the population voted against the nuclear plans, however, the new government decided to continue negotiations with Latvia and Estonia on the project.
"As soon as we have specific calculations of a specific project, we will tell people very clearly and may ask them to give their opinion in one form or another, not necessarily a referendum, we could carry out a very large-scale survey," Graužinienė of the ruling Labor Party told Žinių Radijas news radio.
Perspectives of the nuclear project should be high on the agenda of the government's meeting on Wednesday, with a discussion held on the topic at the parliament next week.
