According to the table of the 2013 state budget proposed by the ministry, the bulk of the money – 83.8 million litas – will go to the Foreign Ministry.

Another 18.9 million litas will be earmarked to the Environment Ministry, 7 million litas to the Seimas office, 4.9 million litas to the Interior Ministry, 3.8 million litas to the President's Office, 3.5 million litas to the Transport and Communications Ministry, 2.4 million litas to the Finance Minsitry and nearly 2 million litas to the Justice Ministry.

About two dozen other institutions will each receive up to 1 million litas.

Lithuania will take over the six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union from Ireland in July 2013 and hand it over to Greece in January 2014.

The presidency duties include heading task forces that involve representatives of all member-states.

During Lithuania's EU presidency, about 3,000 meetings are planned in Brussels and Luxembourg, in addition to approximately 180 presidency events in Lithuania.

The biggest event is the summit of EU member-states and Eastern Partnership countries to take place in November 2013.
