"We have already collected the necessary 29 signatures and will give several more people to sign and will finish the process without procrastination," he told BNS.

In the interpellation document, the liberals ask the minister to explain why funding for healthcare institutions has been cut by 11 percent on average, despite the fact that the budget of the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund is 135.8 million litas (over EUR 39 million) bigger than last year.

At least 29 members of the Seimas have to sign an interpellation against a minister, demanding to explain motives for a decision.

Upon receipt of an interpellation, a Cabinet member has two weeks to submit a written response to the Seimas speaker and the MPs. In the event that the reply of the minister is recognized as inadequate, parliament can hold a vote of no confidence and remove the minister from office.
