On Friday, the Board of the Seimas heard Požela's request to allow him to go to Belarus with a delegation from the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee. But no decision was made after doubts about the purpose of the visit arose.
"We did not approve the trip as we weren't given proper justification justification, since only a vague description was provided with no detailed program," Seimas Vice-Speaker Petras Auštrevičius told BNS on Monday.
Požela told BNS that Mondays are devoted to meetings with voters and trips, so he made use of the day to visit sport facilities in Belarus with Daina Gudzinavičiūtė, president of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee, and other delegation members, without missing any parliamentary plenary sittings.
"It's more of an excursion. I will be back in Vilnius on Monday night in order to not to miss the Tuesday parliamentary plenary sitting," he said on Monday.
