Speculative land purchases and artificial inflating of land prices are already an existing phenomenon in Lithuania, she has told reporters in Kaunas.
"I believe that the most important is that we protect our farmer and people who work on land through laws. We need many safeguards against these things, because threats are coming not necessarily from foreigners. We, Lithuanians, ourselves do not always behave in a way that is honest and fair and in line with our country's interests," Grybauskaitė said when asked what she thought about the sale of land to foreigners.
