The first meeting was with Rimantas Sinkevičius, who has been proposed to head the Ministry of Transport. Sinkevičius made no comments to reporters after the meeting, which took under 10 minutes.

"The president began meetings with the proposed ministerial candidates, but the president has received an incomplete list of Cabinet members from Algirdas Butkevičius. Therefore, she has no comment at the moment," Daiva Ulbinaitė, the president's adviser, told reporters.

She said that she had no information as to what candidates were not on the list.

Ulbinaitė would not say if the meetings were held in English. Grybauskaitė previously said she would examina candidates' fluency in foreign languages.

"I'm not authorized to comment," she said.

Sinkevičius later commented to 15min that he was not able to answer all questions from the President on issues in European transportation. According to him, his appointment will be decided after Grybauskaitė talks to other candidates.

He also said the interview was conducted in Lithuanian and English.
