"As far as I am informed, I can say that those people who took part in the meeting (between representatives of the government and Gazprom in Vilnius on Friday) themselves were partly surprised by the benevolent attitude during the meeting when searching for common ground on various issues raised," he said at a news conference on Saturday.
"I can say with confidence that (Gazprom) did not raise, for example, the issue of the third energy package. Also, it was clearly underlined that there would be a liquefied natural gas terminal in 2014. This issue was not raised either. All issues put forward by our side have been included onto the agenda," he added.
Lithuanian Energy Minister Jaroslav Neverovič reiterated after Friday's meeting with Gazprom's representatives that Vilnius was seeking to negotiate a competitive price of natural gas.
He said that both sides were ready to seek "tangible results".
This was the first meeting after Prime Minister Butkevičius had appointed a negotiating team for talks with Russia's gas giant.
Butkevičius has said that the primary goal of these talks with Gazprom is to negotiate a lower gas price.
