Asked whether efforts would be made to keep the current composition of the ruling coalition intact, the prime minister told the Laisvoji Banga radio on Wednesday morning: "I think so, through conversations and search for compromise and agreements. But the statements that may earn short-term points for some politicians should not be made. This would not continue for long and nobody would tolerate them."
Valdemar Tomaševski, leader of the Electoral Action of Poles, told journalists on Monday that he saw "no good prospect of cooperation" in the ruling center-left coalition as agreements were not implemented. He mentioned the fact that there was still no fourth position of energy vice-minister and talked about fund distribution for state investment programs.
"The last statement did not contribute to improvement of relations, I think. I said openly yesterday that the content of the statement ran counter to the issues discussed at the meeting of the political council. The issue of leaving the coalition was not raised in the discussions at all," Butkevičius said in comment of Tomaševski's statement on Wednesday.
