In an interview published by the weekly magazine Veidas on Monday, he said that this year's congress would discuss the party's participation in the presidential race, however, not specific candidates.

"The issue of specific candidates may be decided in the next year's conference of the party," Butkevičius said.

The presidential elections are scheduled for May 2014. Lithuania's incumbent President Dalia Grybauskaitė has pledged to announce her plans about running for re-election next year.
