Asked to assess the incumbent ministers, some 37.2 percent of the polled said that “all ministers are corrupt”. In particular, 25 percent referred to the Minister of Environment, Gediminas Kazlauskas, as the most corrupt among the current cabinet.
Asked to assess prime ministers who have headed the government since the restoration of independence, some 23.2 percent of the respondents referred to Adolfas Šleževičius (1993-1996) as the most corrupt. Some 19.6 percent stated that all former and current prime ministers were corrupt.
About 15.4 percent of the polled mentioned Gediminas Vagnorius (1991-1992, 1996-1999), 12.6 percent named the current Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, 7.6 percent – Algirdas Brazauskas (2001-2006), 6.8 percent Aleksandras Abišala (2002), 5 percent – Gediminas Kirkilas (2006-2008), 4.8 percent – Kazimira Prunskienė (1990-1991), 3 percent – Bronislovas Lubys (1992-1993), 0.2 percent – Albertas Šimėnas (1991) and 0.2 percent – Rolandas Paksas (1999, 2000-2001).
Market research and consulting company Prime Consulting polled 500 people in Lithuania’s largest cities on 27-29 February 2012.
