"Honorable Premier Algirdas Butkevičius approached me at the Seimas before he became prime minister and said: we will back you, Neringa. I'm not aware of his position now and what might have changed," Venckienė told a press conference on Tuesday.
She said the conversation took place in December.
Meanwhile Irena Šiaulienė, parliamentary group leader of the Social Democratic Party, has publicly said the group will back prosecutors' request to strip Venckienė of her legal immunity.
In late December, Lithuania's Prosecutor General Darius Valys signed a request to the country's parliament to strip Venckienė of her legal immunity.
Venckienė, a former judge, is suspected of refusing to follow a court ruling to hand over a girl to her mother and psychologically frustrating the girl.
Venckiene was elected to the Seimas last October as a member of the Path of Courage party.
No agreements
Meanwhile leader of the Social Democratic Party, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius denies that he has ever spoken to Venckienė about her legal immunity.
"I can say very clearly that there has been no conversation or meeting with Ms Venckienė on taking or leaving her immunity," Butkevičius told journalists on Tuesday, adding that the Social Democrats would vote for the cancelation of Venckienė's legal immunity.
"We have already expressed our position numerous times, and I think we hardly need to repeat it 100 times. (…) We said a long time ago that it's court's prerogative, and knowing the principles of the rule of law, politicians cannot interfere with court's work and block the adoption of certain decisions," Butkevičius said.
