Rita Grumadaite appointed as adviser to Lithuanian prime minister

Rita Grumadaitė, formerly a spokeswoman to ex-president Valdas Adamkus and former education minister Gintaras Steponavičius, has been appointed as adviser to Lithuania's Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius.

"Grumadaitė will give advise on domestic policy and public relations," the prime minister's spokeswoman Evelina Butkutė-Lazdauskienė told BNS.

Grumadaitė graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in journalism in 1980. From 2004, she worked as presidential adviser and headed his press service. In 2001-2004, she was the defense minister's spokeswoman and adviser. Grumadaitė has worked at ELTA news agency and Lietuvos Rytas daily.

From autumn 2009, she was Steponavičius' adviser.
