Sigitas Butkus appointed deputy director of Lithuania's SSD

Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė has signed a decree appointing Sigitas Butkus, currently working at the Ministry of National Defense, as deputy director of the country's State Security Department.

Butkus will assume his new position on January 15, the Presidential Office has said.

The president appointed Butkus following the request by SSD director Gediminas Grina.
