"You don’t think that we are comfortable with the fact that they are NATO members, do you? To be sure, we are not," Medvedev said in an interview to Georgia's TV Rustavi 2 in comment of the Baltic NATO membership.
The interview is available on the Russian government's website.
Medvedev also stated that Russia "cannot turn a blind eye to Georgia or any other country for that matter, such as Ukraine, becoming a member of this kind of military and political alliance."
The Russian prime minister emphasized that Georgia would not benefit from NATO membership, adding that Russia "cannot ignore the fact that military might has a certain direction."
Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia joined NATO in 2004.
