Customers arriving in Lithuania from Latvia are seeking cheaper pricing for both prescription and non-prescription drugs. At the same time, they also purchase food supplements and vitamins.
Eurovaistinė pharmacist in Palanga Laima Uščinaitė says that they are currently receiving mostly just regular customers from Latvia, ones who would usually visit their pharmacy in Lithuania prior to the lockdown. The goal of the arriving is singular – shopping, due to colder weather and entertainment centres remaining closed, rest and relaxation in Lithuania is not an attracting factor. So far, the Palanga pharmacy also has yet to welcome numerous local tourists.
Pharmacists working in Eurovaistinė branches in Panevėžys have noted since last weekend an increase in flows of customers from Latvia. According to a pharmacist working there, it’s a usual situation and up to the lockdown, customers living in Latvia would come to shop in Lithuania.
While the number of clients from Latvia is smaller during the workweek, pharmacists note that there are already more customers during weekends. That said, arriving Latvians say that when they travel, they are concerned about potentially forming queues, albeit noting that these have not emerged.
