Ex-chairman of Lithuanian World Community Vytautas Kamantas dies

Vytautas Kamantas, a former chairman of the Lithuanian World Community, has died, the Community's spokeswoman Vida Bandis confirmed to BNS on Monday.

Kamantas, 82, died on Saturday in Michigan.

He served as chairman of the Lithuanian World Community for 16 years – in 1978-1988 and 1997-2003. He was also chairman of the Lithuanian-American Community in 1970-173 and 1991-1994.

Kamantas received a 2nd Class Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas for his merits to the State of Lithuania in 2000.
