Kwasniewski is scheduled to have a discussion on president's profession with Lithuania's former president Valdas Adamkus on Saturday.
"The former presidents of neighboring states will share their impressions on what happens when a presidential term ends, when you're no longer the president. What happens next and to what extent you can and must take part in the political life, what are your personal and political experiences," Lolita Varanavičienė, president of the Lithuanian Publishers Association, told BNS.
In her words, the original plan was to invite Kwasniewski to the presentation of the book by Adamkus, however, he could not make it to Vilnius then and was consequently invited to take part in a broader discussion in the framework of the Book Fair.
"The presidential discussion will grow beyond a one-book format," Varanavičienė said.
Another key guests of the book fair include US writer of Lithuanian origin Ruta Sepetys and world-famous primatologist Birute Marija Galdikas who will both present their books, as well as French author David Foenkinos, Marina Akhmedova from Russia and Yasmina Khadra from Algeria.
"Sepetys is probably a true phenomenon. She is the first Lithuanian author - although she does not reside in Lithuania - who has attracted so much attention with her exploration into the historic issue of Siberian exile. We are very delighted that she will come and be our guest at the fair," Kotryna Pranckūnaitė, coordinator of the International Cultural Programme Centre, said, adding that this year's fair would dedicate much attention to discussions on various topics, and not only literature.
The Vilnius Book Fair opens at Litexpo exhibition center on Thursday and will continue until Sunday.
